AI meeting and call note-taker app · USA

Wave AI

Evidence A
US$4Mstill running, revenue flat · 16 months after launch
The product

An app for iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and the web that records meetings, phone calls and lectures, writes a transcript with the speakers identified, and then a summary with action items. A user can also ask questions about a recording. It is free for 30 minutes a month; Pro costs US$100 a year in the app stores.

Why it worked

It reached the App Store early, in July 2023, with the simplest form of the idea: press one button, get a transcript and a summary. The founder paid for Meta ads while they still worked for a new kind of app, tested paywalls constantly and moved buyers to annual plans. He works alone with AI coding tools, so in his own 2026 account about US$3 million of about US$7 million a year stays as profit.

Voice notes and dictation app · Spain

Letterly

Evidence A
US$3Mstill running, revenue flat · 29 months after launch
The product

An app for iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and the web that records speech and returns finished text: a clean note, an email, a list, a social post or a meeting summary split by speaker. A phone keyboard and a desktop dictation tool let users speak into any other app. It handles more than 90 languages and recordings of up to 90 minutes.

Why it worked

The first apps that combined OpenAI's Whisper and ChatGPT for voice notes appeared in 2023, and the founder found them "not implemented well enough". His team built a simpler one, collected early users and feature requests through lifetime deals on AppSumo in 2024, and in 2025 grew with advertising and paywall tests measured in Adapty's subscription data.

SoundBoost.ai

Evidence A
US$217,705still running, revenue growing · 32 months after launch
The product

A website and phone app that masters a song from a written request such as "warm, powerful and wide stereo". Each request comes back as a new revision that the user can compare with the earlier ones, and a Spotify link can serve as the reference for loudness and tone. The same subscription includes a splitter that separates a song into vocals, drums, bass and instruments. Since September 2026 the company also offers a generator that makes a music video from the song. Unlimited use costs US$16 a month or US$48 a year on the web.

Why it worked

For its first 20 months the product brought in about US$3,500 a month. Then three things came together: phone apps with weekly plans from August 2025, web plans with unlimited use at US$4 a month billed yearly, and a new group of customers, people who make songs with AI generators such as Suno and need the last step done for them. Monthly revenue rose 7.2 times between January and July 2026. No source states which of the changes caused the rise.

AI dictation app for every text field · United Kingdom

Voicy

Evidence A
US$187,354still running, revenue flat · 25 months after launch
The product

A dictation app for Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome, iPhone and Android. You press a keyboard shortcut and speak, and the text appears with punctuation in whatever app or website you are typing in. The speech is transcribed in the cloud by the open-source Whisper model through Groq's API, or, since 12 October 2026, offline on the computer.

Why it worked

It started as a free Chrome extension that the founder built for his father, then sold unlimited dictation everywhere for a low monthly price. The AI model is cheap to rent: Groq lists Whisper at US$0.04 to US$0.111 per hour of audio. Users came from Google: the site has more than 1,000 pages, one for each app and each need, and the founder says that an AI agent he made writes the blog posts.

Live AI voice translation for churches · Cyprus

Glossa.live

Evidence A
US$182,185still running, revenue growing · 16 months after launch
The product

A church connects the audio of its service, from a microphone or the sound desk, to Glossa in a browser and starts a stream. Glossa turns the speech into text, translates the text, and reads the translation aloud with a synthetic voice. Each visitor scans a QR code, picks one of more than 100 languages on a phone, and listens with earphones or reads the captions. The church needs no receivers and no interpreter booth. It pays for the minutes of speech in each language, not for the number of listeners.

Why it worked

Churches with members from many countries meet every week, and the older solutions cost too much for most of them: an interpreter for each language, or radio receivers to hand out and collect. Glossa charges US$5 for one hour of speech in one language, counts by the minute, and charges nothing for silence, songs or extra listeners, so a small church can start with four free hours and then a few dollars a week. The product is shaped for this one buyer: captions go into ProPresenter and OBS, which churches already run, and a church can fix how names, Bible quotations and its own terms are translated. A very small team can offer this because the speech recognition and the voices are rented from model companies and paid by use.

AI assistant inside messaging apps · Switzerland

Notis

Evidence A
US$161,448still running, revenue falling · 35 months after launch
The product

An AI assistant that you reach by message. You send a voice note, a text, a screenshot or a forwarded email on WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage, Slack or email, and it writes notes, tasks, draft posts and CRM updates into Notion and more than 1,000 other connected apps. It started as a voice-to-Notion tool. In 2026 it added a desktop app, a cloud computer, automations, and connections to Claude, ChatGPT and coding agents.

Why it worked

It reached people inside the chat app that they already open all day, so capturing an idea on a phone took one voice note. It aimed first at Notion users, whom the company told that ideas get lost on the phone. Ads on Facebook and Google then paid for fast growth in early 2026, until the founder stopped them in August 2026 because the costs were larger than the revenue.

AI voice-note to text app · France

Talknotes

Evidence B
US$200,000sold · 11 months after launch
The product

You speak into your phone or browser. Talknotes transcribes the recording with a speech-to-text model and rewrites it in a style you pick: a clean transcript, a short note, a task list, a formal email, a blog post or a video script. It works in more than 50 languages and exports to text, email or a link.

Why it worked

A marketer who had learned to code one year earlier built it in a week, found that paid ads could buy customers for about US$50 each with a yearly plan that paid the ad bill up front, and sold the business for cash eleven months after launch, when the bugs and the support load became more than one person wanted to carry.

Voice notes to clean text · India

AudioPen

Evidence C
US$210,000still running, revenue flat · 35 months after launch
The product

You press a button, talk in any language, and AudioPen returns a short, well-structured text in the style and language you chose, not a word-for-word transcript. It runs on the web, as a phone app, on desktop and as a browser extension. The free plan has short recordings; the paid plan, Prime, is sold for 3 months, 1 year or 2 years, never by the month.

Why it worked

The founder had 10,000 followers on X who watched him build it, so it had 100 paying users two days after a 12-hour hackathon and sold itself by word of mouth after that. A no-code stack kept costs near zero, a lifetime deal whose price rose from US$19 to US$150 funded the first year, and yearly-only pricing cut support work for one person.

AI clones of coaches and creators · UK · Funded

Coachvox AI

Evidence C
US$180,000still running · 10 months after launch
The product

A coach, author or creator uploads books, articles, podcast transcripts and course material. Coachvox turns them into a chat version of that person, which answers the audience in the creator's voice on a website, inside a course or in a members' group, and gives the creator the email address and the transcript of everyone who chats.

Why it worked

The founder sold places from design mockups to people in her own network before the product existed, and her Forbes column brought a quarter of the sign-ups at no cost. It sold creators what a general chatbot did not give them: the contact details of the people who chat, the transcripts, and the clone on their own site with their own brand.

AI voice notes and transcription app · India

AudioNotes

Evidence C
US$85,831still running · 15 months after launch
The product

An AI note-taking app for speech: record a voice note or upload audio, video or text, and get a transcript, a summary, meeting minutes, an email or a social post. It runs on iPhone, Android, the web and a Mac beta, with links to Notion, Zapier, webhooks and WhatsApp.

Why it worked

It started two months after OpenAI's Whisper API made accurate transcription cheap, and it sold the step after the transcript: a summary, minutes, an email or a post, sent on to Notion, Zapier or WhatsApp. In 2023 it charged by the year, US$99 or US$199.
